MacArthur had reacted to the events that were in Korea so he had the UN troops help him since he had the okay from Truman. He had surprised North Korea when he and the UN had attack them, but he was also going to invade China. Truman had given the job to MacArthur because Truman wanted peace between North and South Korea but Truman had not wanted the Chinese to have a reason to join the war so he had told MacArthur to stay away from the China border. I believe that it would be Truman's because he had known what would happen if MacArthur had gone to close to the China border. Which when MacArthur had went by the China border it had made chaos because over 300,000 troops from China had join North Korea which made the war last longer because China and North Korea had pushed the UN and South Korean troops past the 38th parallel.…

While researching the beginnings of Mao’s single party, communist dictatorship over China, I noticed strong similarities between the Communist Chinese Republic and the Soviet Union. During the rise of the Communist Chinese Republic, the Soviet Union had already gained status as a World Power. As a result, Chairman Mao idolized the Soviet empire, and utilized it as a model for the Chinese Republic. In order to attain a similar empire to the Soviet Union, the Communist Chinese Republic required a great deal of foreign aid. After Mao took power in 1949, China went through many changes. In January 1958, Mao ordered the Great Leap Forward. The Great Leap Forward was an attempt to boost China’s agricultural and industrial output. The movement was a failure as the agricultural output actually decreased and millions of Chinese died. The Korean War was an armed conflict spanning from June 1950 – July 1953 and involved two opposing sides, North Korea and South Korea. Each side was backed up by the Soviet Union and United States, respectively, and was part of the larger, long-term Cold War. The stage was set for a South Korean-U.S. victory with the allied forces pushing back the communists north of the 38th parallel and to the Yalu River in North Korea.
