The Hippies came from the natural outgrowth of the Beat Movement that happened in the 1950s, hippies were rebellious against the society grown increasingly conformist and repressive, they mainly focused on freedom and nature (“1960s-Hippie Fashion”). Also, The 1960s is known from the hippie counter-culture craze that invaded the lives of the citizens in the United States and all around the world. So basically, the fascinating in sight of Hippies and how they came about helped it get spread throughout the world. Hippies didn’t like the middle class values, opposed all nuclear weapons and the Vietnam War in general. They also embraced aspects of Eastern philosophy and wanted to find a new meaning of life (“Hippie”). Another thing is Hippies believed that life was all about feeling happy, not about what other people thought you should feel. So this shows that Hippies believed differently than most of the rest of their society, and were more free and diverse.
