1) In the website hosted by Informed Ed the article by Briggs (2015) Why Visual Literacy is More Important than ever…” found at https://www.opencolleges.edu.au/informed/features/why-visual-literacy-is-more-important-than-ever-10-ways-to-cultivate-it/, demonstrates how visual literacy may be used in unconventional ways. One example she describes is how the application of visual literacy in communication was applied for a doctoral dissertation where the student presented the dissertation in a comic book format. This article was a fascinating. It illustrates how out of box use of visual literacy presents a new way for students to communicate and articulate their knowledge in a medium other than the use of written text. The article further discusses ways visual literacy may be encouraged and applied in teaching since it involves more than PowerPoints and visual aids (Briggs, 2015).

The article discusses elements of what visual literacy is and then further expands on the skills that are necessary for the students to become visually literate, and how standards from core curriculums relate to visual literacy. More importantly, the article talks about the reason why visual literacy is an important component and beneficial to include in the 21st-century education.
3) The third article by Vukovic (2016) is a short but sweet article discussing the importance and impact teaching visual literacy has for students. She makes a point of how the resources she gathered discuss how visually literate students are able “critically disseminate between the visual information that is presented to them…[and] be able to visualize abstract concepts” (Vukovic, 2016, para. 5). She goes on to provide the reader questions that can be posed to students which will enable them to develop their knowledge in visual
