Action-Plan
When resumed back to history class after break, on the second week we went over WW1 and thought of research topics. When the group was assigned, we decided on the topic and research plan. We thought that the “Sinking of Lusitania” was an interesting topic. We then thought maybe we could even do about the causes of WW1 since the sinking of Lusitania was part of the causes.

President Wilson aimed to be neutral in the war. When the German U-Boats sank the British liner Lusitania in May 1915, carrying 128 US citizens abroad, President Wilson demanded that there would be an end to the attacks on passenger ships. Surprisingly, Germany complied. President Wilson also stated that the US will not tolerate unrestricted submarine warfare/attacking as this would violate human rights and international law considering ocean peace.
The public opinion of the US regarding war was strongly divided. Most Americans wanted the US to remain neutral during the war. These opinions changed gradually (mostly in response to German brutality in “The Rape of Belgium” and the sinking of Lusitania, and later as President Wilson would state that “America had to play a role to make the world safe for democracy”
