The First Forest by John Gile, is a children’s story that both children and adults can learn from. At first glance, it seems to be a basic story one reads to their child, but if one really thinks, there is an extremely mature message hidden in this book. The message this books tells is that greediness does a lot of harm. In addition, the story also reminds us that being grateful for the gifts you are given and having a genuine respect for the need and right of others to share in those gifts, releases serenity and peace within you and others. When the Tree Maker came to his forest that night, his beautiful trees were an ugly sight”, supports the claim. This quote makes the reader realize the seriousness of the situation but in a lighter way, by making an inanimate object cry. This enhances the allegory because it shows how emotions are contagious. Many trees in the forest were dark and negative, which made the willow trees feel the same. Also, “That’s why in the winter when you walk in the snow some trees stand stark naked while cold north winds blow”, supports this claim. This makes the reader have mercy for the trees. Of course, trees can not stand naked, but this gives out a sad and cold tone. This enhances the allegory because it explains that there are serious consequences that even, time, cannot recover. Greediness can engulf a person very quickly, making them do things they never thought they would ever do. Instead of waiting to be the next victim of greed, practice positivity and differentiating what is right and wrong. Lastly, “Soon other trees followed that tree’s lead like sheep.
