Is it frowned upon for countries to require their citizens to serve in the military? Many countries place an obligation on every young person to serve in the military. This is a policy the United States should enact since it has many benefits for the military and the individual, although some deem it to be unconstitutional. After graduating high school, two years of military service should be mandatory for young adults in the United States.
First and foremost, the military promotes responsibility and mental strength through long thought processes and mental tests. Having to follow rules and procedures creates responsibility once practiced over a period of time. Although one must be responsible, having mental toughness is more important when you enter combat.
