C. M. Leadership Style Analysis

According to C. M. (2016), he believes that it depends on which hat you are wearing in a particular role. As a leader, for example, when he is working with group or committee as a chairperson, he leads the group in the direction toward the shared goal. He has a similar style when he manages his unit on a daily basis. He delegates to people who specific skills to accomplish goals on his unit. He works with the employees’ strengths and weaknesses to get best of them. However, when he is in the following position, C. M. makes sure that he gets the tasks done correctly and timely manner whatever he was asked to do. The leadership role is most essential part of his job. Even though he is new in his role but C. M. (2016) believes. He initially started out as House Supervisor, and during that role, he said that his leadership was more of dictatorial style, in other words, he made all decisions without others input due to nature of the job where a quick decision needed. However, as a direction of this unit, his sees himself more a visionary and his style is democratic, where he delegates the jobs other experts on the unit, so he does not have to micromanage each task and keep the quality intact. He states that his main strength of leadership that he gets things done more quickly than others because he looks at “why and how” as well as motivating people in his team. The weakness of his style is that sometimes getting everyone involved on time is especially challenging when change is needed …show more content…
M. believes that leadership qualities are learned, and because of that, the style changes over time. Also, the person should be willing to do this by training themselves to be the best listener, be able to deliver all types of messages, and take feedback positively. Also, these qualities assist in being an effective leader as well. With the willingness, anybody can learn to be more democratic. It’s crucial for a leader to evaluate him/herself for personal improvement to be an effective leader. Self-accountability and respect for others are another key elements of an effective leader.
According to C. M. (2016), mentorship is an important part of a leader who can bring high qualities of others and guide them in toward their goals. He said that he continuously mentors his staff to a leadership role, and he is still in touch with all his mentors. He believes that mentorship is the key to success whether we mentor our kids, family members, or professional at work.
Inter-professional teamwork is what his unit prides on, and most nurses and techs want to float to his unit. He said that he created team work spirit on his unit, so the communication flows easily among nurses, techs, doctors, respiratory therapists, social workers, case managers, and physical therapists for continuum
