“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17, is what I have grown up believing about the Bible. I grew up going to church every Sunday and also going to a Christian day camp every summer for six years. The Sunday school teachers at church and counselors at the camp I attended always after each Bible story I heard would say “this story is true because it comes from the Bible, which was inspired by God”. I most certainly do believe that the Bible is true. I have no doubt about the Bible not being true. I believe that God created this earth and everything in it. Look around at the sky, the grass, trees, birds, etc. How could any of this be here if it were not for someone who created it? Everything has a creator. Also, I believe that the Bible is true because the prophecies that were fulfilled. The Old Testament is full of prophecies that were supposed to happen. There are different books that claim to be prophetic, for instance, the Book of Mormon and the Koran. Those are just claims, not the truth. The Bible is the only book that precisely, with much detail, that foretells events way before they even happen. For example, a major prophecy to happen was Jesus being sent by God, to earth, to live a life like you and me, except for one thing, he was perfect. Another reason why I believe that the Bible is true is because of the historical and archeological evidence and accurateness. The Bible is the most authentic book of all, if we are looking for accuracy with the history of it. The discovery of archeological evidence from the Bible confirms it to be true. The archeology was a reason to help me believe, because I am a person who likes to confirm things by putting two and two together. I think that some parts of the Bible are more believably literal and others more believably symbolic. A symbol I think of all the time is the rainbow that God sent as a covenant that he would not flood the whole earth again. The Bible is also an allegory. An allegory is a story or poem that can be revealed to have a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. When I read the Bible, I have to look deeper to understand and to find the meaning of the scripture that I read. Allegories that I think of all the time are the parables that Jesus tells. The parables have symbolic meanings to them. I get confused sometimes when I read parables. Even the disciples were confused at times. For example, I was confused when I first read the parable of Salt and Light. But, then I realized that I had to look deeper for the meaning. When I was looking deeper into it, I realized that it represents us being blessed by God and being called to be a member of the Kingdom of God. The parable is about us shining our light and living for
