Why Some Teens Join Gangs On average, 32% of all lower income families have children from ages 10-15 years old. These young adults are prime targets for gang affiliations. Over the next 12 months, hundreds of thousands of these adolescents will be approached to join a gang. The most likely candidates will come from broken homes, which leaves them looking for something to do, protection, and acceptance due to parental neglect.
