Teaching itself is very fulfilling in many ways. One of those ways is how a teacher is able to connect with their students and become a known member of families and the community. One teacher mentions: “I get invited to family barbeques and stuff. I mean it’s an honor. I’m a friend to the family and respected and not an hourly wage slave type of person.” (Career Cruising). While the pay is not astronomical, the median pay of $55,050 is still reasonable and high enough to live off of in the US (bls.gov). The expected need for teachers within the next 10 years is expected to grow about 6%. The more job openings, the easier it is to obtain that job (bls.gov). One of the best parts of teaching is simply how fun it is. Mr. Belt mentions: “My days aren’t repetitive and it never gets boring. Like there are some jobs where you get in a cubicle and do a single task for 8 hours. In my job it’s never like that, I’m always doing something different.”. Teaching is ever changing, and the amount of variety in it makes each day new and interesting. There are various things people have to do as teachers. The most obvious is creating lesson plans. This is great for teachers as it gives them flexibility in how they teach and lets people use their creativity to make each lesson unique and different from another teachers.
