Student Success In College Essay

Often times, the people who travel the hardest paths in life and come out stronger are the people who are recognized. Taking this into consideration, those who overcome challenges and succeed should be recognized because they inspire others to do the same. In this way, students should be encouraged in school to stay persistent even when their academic courses are very challenging, because even the smartest student will fall short of success if he or she does not stay gritty. In short, students who learn the value of hard work and persistence at a young age will be more likely to succeed in college than someone who has not because they will be more willing to put in the effort to succeed. In fact, the definition of grit is to have the audacity to keep going and to have indomitable spirit. That being said, grittier students work harder than average students because they are willing to keep going even when quitting is the easier route. On the contrary, students who lack a gritty character will be less likely to succeed in college because they are less ambitious and not as self-disciplined. Therefore, how can one be more successful than someone who has worked for everything they have had. In effect, gritty students will be more successful in college than students who are not as dedicated because they work harder than average students, are more persistent and determined to succeed, and know that stamina, not IQ, are the tools it takes to reach success.
