Don T Skip Class Analysis

Often times before you start your first semester of college, you 'll start seeing articles on random social media platforms that tell you all of the things you should NEVER do in college. I am here to tell you those things, but I am also here to tell you that you will most definitely do 85% of those things.

First, you 'll hear the "don 't skip class" speech a million times before you start your first semester. In the beginning, you 'll do well, going to class on time, never skipping, etc... But around midterms, if not before, you will slip at least one time. That 's not to say there is not some magical person with the will and strive to attend every boring lecture they signed up for, but we ALL slip up at least once. I am here to say, THIS IS OKAY. Now, don 't mix my words and think I am telling you to never attend class, that 's just stupid because you are paying big bucks for that boring lecture, but don 't feel like you 've ruined your entire future because you overslept, or maybe that 8 am in 15 degree weather just isn 't worth attending this once. Eat a hot pocket and enjoy your mini vacation, but don 't get

Do not make your college experience all about one single person. Your friends will get super annoyed and you 'll miss out on so much. Now hold on, I am not saying go hook up with every washboard pair of abs you see, that can lead to many things you do not want at this time in your life, or ever. I am saying you should make a conscious effort to focus on yourself rather than someone else. I thought I knew everything about myself coming to college, but little did I know I had no earthly idea who I would become. Take your first semester to be adventurous and figure out things you like and things you don 't like. Go on a few dates, but don 't get torn up over that one person who didn 't call you back, they aren 't worth it. You have to learn to love yourself before anyone else can truly love

Ole Miss is a community filled with all types of people with different religion, cultures and sexuality. Everyone is from different places, which means all people talk and do things differently. That being said, since we are all diverse there should be no reason not to include everyone in everything we do. Inclusion is a big part of college, especially as a freshman. At the beginning of my final year of high school, a significant educational opportunity was introduced to me: a political science class was being offered at my high school by Merced College. I was very excited to find out about this course because of my plans to major in political science and eventually find a career in the politics. Of all possible subjects, I was very lucky to have this college course offered at my small school that otherwise would not offer opportunities like this. I had absolutely no doubts about taking the class. The course started on the night of the first day of school, and I was overwhelmed with the workload that was presented in the first class.…

Understanding that the way students learned in high school will not cut it in college because there is a higher expectation. The advice I would give to a prospective student starting in college is the information given to us in the beginning of chapter zero (0). First, determine which study methods works best for the individual (verbal, visual, auditory, and/or action). Secondly, time management by balancing school, work and play, and avoid procrastination at all cost. Thirdly, you need to be prepared for class, meaning read the textbook and take notes that you are able to understand.…

College is the best four years of your life, they say. As I entered my freshman year of college, it was filled with a variety of emotions and uncertainty. Moving 6 hours away from my hometown, in a completely unknown environment, and not knowing a single sole was the hardest thing i’ve ever gone through. The first weeks of college was a culture shock to say the least. I was exposed to so much more then I thought I would.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

College Success Skills #2 At the beginning of this semester, my main goal was to work on my habit of procrastination. The article Don 't Drop Out by Kern discusses the topic of dropping out of college. According to this author, the main claim is to NOT quite college and to stay in school. Kern has many pieces of evidence in his article that support this claim. He believes that you will have a harder time learning new things in an environment outside of college. He specifically states that "the most valuable courses don 't prescribe what to learn, but how to learn" Kern also states that most of the important lessons in college are not done in class but rather the things that happen outside of the classroom.…
