Student athletes should just say “No!”
People who take and use steroids can have serious side effects. For instance males can develop things such as breasts, shrinking of testicals, infertility, and male pattern baldness, and heart/liver problems. On the other hand women can develop things such as excessive growing of body hair and male pattern baldness, and heart/ liver problems . All student athletes should be drug tested before they are allowed to play sports because drug tests prevent students from getting involved in drugs, medical professionals need to be aware of what students are taking, and also it prevents teams from having an unfair advantage. Drug tests could prevent student athletes from getting involved in drugs if they know there are consequences. A quote from Gale resources states that “Eventually, the NFL implemented punishments for those who tested positive for steroids.” (“Steroids and Football”). This proves a point by showing how student athletes will get punished or suspended from playing sports for a certain period of time for taking steroids.
