The age of the A.I is upon us, and we are integrating it into our daily life. We live with it, we work with it and it even does some work for us. We research more and more, to make it smarter, better, stronger, but not thinking of the complication it creates. A.I is becoming more and more unpredictable in parallel to the possibilities and broad uses of it. We think we can handle it, but can we really? We need to think about the dangers they can cause, both lethal and non-lethal. We also need to think of ways to make sure it doesn’t happen.
We think we are safe, but beyond the human limits lies the possibilities of A.I which can lead to eradication of society as we know it! According to James Barrat, Author, …show more content…
Gary Marcus states that robots and A.I will be able to replace a lot of humans in the workplace in his article Will A Robot Take Your Job(The New Yorker, 2012). Marcus says that “70 percent of today’s occupations will likewise be replaced by automation.” and that is a bit threatening, as it not only means less jobs for us humans, but also less humanity in our workplace. That can have huge complications if the service departments are left to the A.I and robots. Take the movie I, Robot(2004) for example, when a robot prioritized to save a grown man above a little girl because he had a higher chance of surviving. If this were to happen in our society, it would cause an outrage because of such moral difficulties and sensitive actions. Of course A.I and robots would do good to replace the low paying jobs, as well as the dangerous ones such as mining and oil …show more content…
They are a danger, that is not even questionable, but they do make for quite replacement for some jobs since they are better, faster and stronger with their mechanical muscles, yet they do have their fair share of flaws in our society. They are not able to think like humans, and have their orders to follow. That would mean that all the passion in wars would not be left, and it would all be a meaningless slaughter. The usual work would be easily predictable and no breakthrough would be possible, since they are only programmable to do what we know. And since they have no free thinking, science mayhaps stagnate. The can also be a very lethal danger, and might turn on us, if they are free enough. A lot to think about, since this is a very controversial topic, and I think A.I may very well be ‘the next thing’ in our society, but under a very controlled and in a safe
