Why Sports Medicine Is Important To Me

Sports Medicine Since as long as I can remember, I have continuously gone through the motion of learning a topic and moving on. I was never intrigued or excited about a topic as my peers seemed to be. As I transitioned into high school, my friends all appeared to know what path they wanted to take for the future, while I had no idea. Therefore, I decided to take an ROP that my brother had taken and once I started learning in class, I knew this was my path. I have never felt so passionate about a subject in my entire life, and sports medicine has made me realize who I am and what my purpose on earth is. Sports and helping others has always been a major part of my life; sports medicine encompasses these qualities that make me who I am. I have grown up playing sports since I was five years old and always felt the need to help those around me. Growing up, I struggled with a desire to help others and not knowing how to. When sports medicine was first introduced to me, I was determined to absorb every piece of information I could get. I devoted myself to learning this new topic with an open mind and much curiosity. After taking this class, I am able to treat and wrap injured athletes while teaching fellow students how to. I finally feel like I am making a difference by helping my peers and other injured athletes. …show more content…
I have been captain for my soccer teams before, but sports medicine truly encouraged me to fully express this part of myself. Over the summer, I participated in a sports medicine camp at Stanford where I was fully engaged and part of team tasks where I took charge. At my highschool I help my peers understand topics and catch them up if they were absent. When shadowing my athletic trainer, I not only assist her with injured athletes, but I also help my peers wrap and treat athletes. Taking this class brings out qualities I knew I always had, but now being able to express
