Antigone, Sophocles’ greek drama translated by Richard Emil Braun tells the actions of someone named Antigone and the limits that she had to overcome to do what was right for her family. In this play, Antigone has many reasons for breaking the law and burying her brother. It is not evident though, on why she decided to commit suicide. One reason that was given from Jan Kott’s article “Why Does Antigone Kill Herself?” is that she could not survive hate. Antigone is not able to live in a world where she can not control the situation that she is in. She feels like she is unmourned and friendless in the wake of being lead away to the cave.
