Why Softball Is Important To Me

When I first started softball I never thought the game would have had as big of an influence on me as it has. From softball, I have learned many valuable lessons and acquired many traits that have been and will continue to be beneficial in other aspects of my life. This sport has brought to light the importance of teamwork. Being on a team has taught me how to old myself accountable in many situations as well as knowing when to give suitable advice to other teammates so we all can benefit from each other. Going along this idea, I have become thankful for my teammates who have spent extra time with me or simply corrected me whenever they were given the opportunity. Not only has this gotten us better as players, but it goes to show that it's the little things that leave a big mark. Softball is a game guaranteed to have errors at one point or another, and for me that is hard to accept. Softball, however, has taught me how to overcome this obstacle. Whether it's on the field, in the classroom, or practically anywhere, when handling failure and mistakes properly I now view them as an opportunity to grow and learn. Without mistakes I would never know what I have to fix, and I think softball has done a great job at illustrating this concept to me even more. …show more content…
From seeing cocky and sometimes rude opponents, I have grasped that is important to remain humble. Not only in sports, but throughout life as well, I have seen it is easier to gain respect if you stick to this idea. Along with staying modest, I have learned that there is only so much you can control. You can’t control what the umpire calls, where your coach will decide to play you, how much time you’ll have to warm up, etc. But is important to take what you have and make the best out of
