Whether we like it or not, history is repeating itself. Despite the changes we have already made in the world, we have not completely solve the problem of gender stratification. We have this belief as a society that men are better than women. They are the dominate sex who is seen to be smarter, better and more powerful in making decisions for himself, his family, his business, and etc. We see this take place in many area, however we witness it more in the work place. Working fields such as education, medical and planning are made up of mostly women, and men are still viewed as the more dominate. With this being said, they are also paid more than women. The feminism movement dissolved after winning the right to vote in 1920, and ever since then women have been fighting a battle to be treated equally. However our society still practice the culture of women being in second place to men. “This is an important issue for American feminism, and its place in American culture, the question that is, of what material, what contests, what symbols, the media and culture in America can handle, project, or celebrate.” (Cacoullos) The minority group of society is slowly attempting to convince the majority group that feminism is fair.
