High schools need to step their game up. Every year, 1.2 million students drop out of high school because of reasons including too much workload, paying little attention, and barely engaging. Not only are these stupid reasons to drop out, but not being able to deal with high school because of those is the result of immaturity. Students should be raised with the mindset that hard work is needed to get through life. In high school, students should learn to display maturity and drudgery in order to guarantee future generations’ success. Everyone should be raised to high expectations. The fact that so many students are not mature enough to maintain school life should bring about change to how teachers teach students. Students tend to learn subject matters that do not pertain to real life applications, which does not help anyone grow their maturity or knowledge of how the world works. If students were taught things that would help them with occupations or social issues for the future, society would be able to better handle problems and inevitably be more productive …show more content…
At this time, kids tend to be spoiled and are ignorant of the fact that things will not be given to them later in life. This immature mindset sticks with a child for many years until they learn when they leave high school. At that point, the damage has been done and it is hard to live with the fact that not everything is sugar-coated for them. Studies found that “in a Parents poll, 42 percent of readers admitted that their child is spoiled and 80 percent think spoiling kids now will affect them in the long term”(Denise Schipani). If schools would step up the curriculum and make students work hard through all of their school years, they would be better prepared to work hard later in life and to persevere when times are tough.
