Why Should We Spend Money On NASA For Space Exploration?

Why should we spend money on NASA for space exploration when there are so many issues here on Earth that need to be solved? The human exploration of space has been debated across the globe since the launching of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957. Many people argue that space exploration is diverting attention and funds from more important matters humanity has at hand; however, space exploration has a multitude of benefits which could prove worthwhile to countries that invest in it. Space exploration would be a great opportunity to expand our territory and colonize. Space exploration is not only beneficial, it is inevitable. In Source E, the author states that we, humans are “the only earthly creatures with the capacity to extend our influence beyond the four corners of the globe.” She then goes on to say that we should consider space preservation, conservation, and sustainability as we boldly plan to expand our territory to places where no one has ever gone before. On Earth, the human population is burning through the earth’s natural resources pretty quickly. Out in space there is virtually unlimited natural resources. It is all just a matter of collecting it and bringing it back. The expansion of human presence into the solar system would keep us from overpopulating. With a population of roughly 7.2 billion, arguably beyond the carrying capacity of the earth already, humans are using up most of the natural resources provided. Space exploration would allow for a new place to put people so that our resources can last longer and we can provide for future generations.
