One of the most debated subjects out in society is capital punishment. Capital punishment is taking the life of another human for committing crimes at the capital offense level. There are many people who disagree as well as agree on capital punishment. Some say it is cruel and unusual punishment others believe the crime should fit the punishment which in some cases death is the punishment. Many people have their own opinions on capital punishment. I am going to specify on why people believe we should keep capital punishment and why we shouldn 't. Capital punishment isn 't always accurate when it comes to if he/she has committed the crime. There have been numerous victims that have been giving the death penalty and years to pass have …show more content…
One is they believe the prisoner will escape. Which makes sense because once a prisoner knows they 're in prison for life without parole many have the thought to try and escape. Escape doesn 't happen often, but there have been a few files of people who have escaped that were facing the death penalty. There was a case of the six inmates who were facing death row and escaped from Mecklenburg Maximum security center on 1984.(Bovsun,Par1). From reading this, I see why people would be terrified if a killer escaped from prison and is running loose. The reason why people are scared the most about this is simply because they believe the convicted killer will kill again. This is where the safety of others comes in. Many believe that their safety is in jeopardised when they have escaped convicts roaming around. A study shows that within five years of a prisoner release 71 percent will return because of another violent crime they committed(Slifer,Par4). That 's a pretty high percentage I could understand why some would rather have them executed then put back in society where they can harm others. Even though the chance of escape isn 't very likely it does happen. I could understand why some would rather have them serve the death

Capital Punishment, A Capital NO Capital punishment has a long and gruesome history, regrettably that history is not all in the past. Capital punishment, the practice of putting someone to death as punishment for a crime, is still exercised within fifty-eight countries and thirty-one American states. Although today’s methods of government sanctioned executions are more humane and less violent than our days past; when to be put to death meant to be hanged, flayed, burned alive or worse, it should still be considered by all, as a grave injustice to humanity. If killing is so wrong that it is considered one of the worst crimes a person could commit, why should the government be able to do exactly that.…

Capital punishment is described as a government sanctioned punishment where a person that has committed a crime is put to death by the state. This sentence is commonly used toward people who have committed awfully high offenses such as murder, war crimes, and crimes against humanity and genocides. It dates back to the 1500's where this was seen as the just way of law that made criminals pay for their crimes in front of an entire community. Back then they used methods of hanging, stoning, and lashing these people, their main purpose being one, to maximize the general balance of pain and pleasure towards society. There are certain actions that we can take into our hands and those in which the law plays an important role.…

One of the first arguments that come up is if the person is actually innocent, naturally, there have been innocent people that were executed and there likely will be more executed. It comes down to the skill and the will of the prosecution and defense lawyers and the hopes that the system will work for those innocent people and not against them. Next, the innocent family, friends of criminals, the accused, and what they have to deal with. It cannot be easy having a love one convicted and sentenced to capital punishment, the emotional toll this can put on a person can be overwhelming. Not only do they face personal troubles with this, there is also the social media coverage and abuse the media can produce unintentionally against them.…

Capital punishment is the legally authorized killing of someone as punishment for a crime. The death penalty is a complex issue, and can understandably be argued from both sides, those opposing the death penalty, and those who feel capital punishment should still be an option. Capital punishment should be abolished because, people are capable of change, the penalty puts innocent lives at risk, and we pay millions for each death penalty case. Firstly, people are capable of change; in other words, the guilty adept to rehabilitation.…

The Lethal Injection Capital punishment has been a heated debate for a long time. Capital punishment is a system where prisoners who committed grave crimes that usually involve either mass murder or rape are sentenced to die to either give retribution for the heinous act committed and to deter other criminals from doing the same or similar crimes against humanity. This can be carried out from a variety of ways but, the only common one that is used currently is lethal injection. The lethal injection is a three step process that results in the death of the criminal being executed. The first drug causes the victim to fall unconscious after the drug reaches the brain in 30 seconds.…

Capital punishment has always been a subject that people normally do not like to talk about because people, especially the government, knows that capital punishment is an unconstitutional cruel and unusual idea. Capital punishment should be used by states to execute a prisoner, given that the evidence that is against them is substantial enough and beyond a doubt calls for a death sentence. Even though capital punishment is rare and slowly decreasing (Source A), the fact that it continues to exist is the general problem with it. Capital punishment itself would go against the 8th Amendment, saying that “…cruel and unusual punishments [would not be] inflicted” and the fact that the American government would overlook this very clear part of the Constitution is very worrisome because they could do this with many other Amendments. In my opinion, capital punishment is unjustified in every way and should not exist because the best substitute for capital punishment is lifetime in prison provided with rehabilitation options for the guiltily…

The way we view ourselves as human beings relies on our morality and compassion towards others. Our ability to forgive those who have done us wrong and seek proper justice has become a standard. Capital punishment manages to defy all these standards. Wasting government funding on executing already captured criminals wastes millions of taxpayers dollars every year. Reverting back to the usage of the death penalty makes us no better than our ancestors and prove that we have learned nothing over this long and violent period of time.…

Keeping the Death Penalty When people make a bad choice and get sent to jail they are only in there for a short period of time before going home. For some people they are in jail for a lifetime, and they get the death penalty. Some people do not think the death penalty should still be allowed because of its cruelty. The death penalty should remain as an acceptable punishment because it can be used as a deterrent for serious crimes, other criminals can learn from other death penalty recipients, and the death penalty is by far more humane than past executions forms.…

At the same time the methods used are different, people today believe it is desensitized to get closure by killing another human being for committing a capital offense. Our means to deter criminal activity ore to keep criminals from recidivating, in my opinion, do not work very well. The individuals on death row have to wait years to receive their punishment for their wrongdoing. The less serious offenders do their time as set in place by the system, with the possibility of parole, and after they do their time, they’re released back on the streets without having a reason not to commit another crime. Face the facts, if the offender can stay on the officer’s good side, stay off of the radar of the rough inmates, and is okay with being alone, the positives for the offender is a free bed, free food, and free showers.…

Abolishing the Death Penalty has been an enormous argument in our society. The main question that everyone debates about all throughout the world, is whether the penalty should be abolished or not. To me honestly, of course the Death Penalty should be banned from all states. I do not support it by any means, mainly because it goes against my religious beliefs. It’s not only cruel, but it also violates our human rights and is more expensive than people may think.…
