One of the reasons we may just conform to other people’s beliefs is because it takes courage to defend an idea especially if it isn’t. I believe that being different and unique lets a person be themselves and lead a happy more fulfilled life. People do not always choose to be the unique person that they are. People need to be themselves instead of conforming to their surroundings for whatever reasons they may have. When someone changes who they are, they lose their true individuality. Being different or having different opinions should not discourage someone. On the contrary, sharing your beliefs, opinions, and way of life should be motivated because it will help one and others to move forward. " [Be] ... true to [oneself], even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur [one's] own abhorrence" (Frederick Douglass). As Fuller expressed everyone is equal and everyone should be given the same opportunities. There will always be people to suppress one, however these people should only motivate one to continue fighting.…

In a social experiment conducted by Solomon Asch of 1951, Asch studied the impact of how social pressure from the majority can affect a person to conform (McLeod). The experiment consisted of one participant in a group of actors and all were asked to match the test line to a line most similar. In revealing their answers, the participant was asked to answer last out of the group while the actors all purposely answered incorrectly. With over 12 trials of the experiment, nearly 75% of the participants conformed to answering the question incorrectly at least once. This trend of conformity is also seen in today’s social influence.…

I personally disagree with both of them. I picked the first one because conformity means the same. I think that if you are different you are rare, extraordinary and important, not the same. The Nonviolence Coefficient It's hard to discuss concepts of civil disobedience or even of peace without eventually arriving at the names Mohandas K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. After all, both men fought daunting battles and won great liberties while condemning violence. It's hard to argue that both men ultimately subscribed to the same core beliefs. They both placed great value on human life and freedom, and both felt that nonviolent protest was the strongest way to bring about change. Upon closer inspection, one notices some subtle differences in their respective approaches to social issues.…

While Martin Luther King is known for his peaceful stance on protesting and the Civil Rights movement, King was heavily influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and carried forward Gandhi’s beliefs. As a result Indians heartily embraced and supported King’s stance and ideals because they were similar to that of Gandhi’s. Both shared mutual values, strategies and struggles. Although both leaders were taken by violence far too soon, both of these prophets of peace’s teachings still apply and have much to offer to a world still plagued by war, discrimination, and a divisiveness among people.…

Gandhi was the torch-bearer of civil rights movements during the age of British imperialism, and through his words and actions, the ideals of nonviolence and peaceful protest continue to this day. Gandhi showed that the actions of one individual can represent the sentiments of inequality and discrimination of the collective whole. Gandhi showcased the ideals of nonviolence, civil disobedience, and unity of all Indians through the Non-Cooperation Movement, the famous March to the Sea, and the “fast unto death” demonstration to protest the discrimination of the untouchable caste. Gandhi’s civil movement still holds significant value today, and exemplifies the power of one individual acting on the behalf of many.…
