United States Border Patrol: Why should the U.S have border patrol? Illegal immigrants have always been a problem in the United States for some time now. “In October 2008, the illegal immigrant population stood at 11.9 million according to the Pew Hispanic Center” ("Illegal Immigration Facts & Statistics”). An efficient border patrol in our country would be a good step in the right direction to stop illegal immigration and the effect it has on our country. Illegal immigrants are at fault for such things as smuggling drugs into the country, which increases crime rate. Illegal immigrants also deprive U.S. citizens’ from the lower and middle class of jobs. America will also lose money on taxes and schools lose funds in most public systems …show more content…

When the United States has more money, they spend it on illegal immigrants. Florida’s illegal immigration problem is the main reason why nearly 1.7 million dollars is spent per year by the state’s tax payers; this cost is for the state’s education, medical care, and incarceration ("Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)"). Even if the illegal immigrants started to pay taxes in Florida now, the net outlays would still be almost 1 billion dollars ("Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)"). In education, Florida residents spend more than 1.5 million dollars annually on illegal immigrants ("Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)"). About 8.7% of the kids in grades k through 12 are illegal aliens ("Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)"). “In the United States illegal immigration cause a lot of problems to our society, and the net annual cost of immigrations is between 67 and 87 billion dollars a year” ("Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)").
