I am addressing you today in regards to the large percentage of parents who refuse to vaccinate their children at the Manzanita Elementary School. The many benefits of a simple vaccinations strongly outweigh the few cons. The effectiveness of vaccines is about 90-100 percent. Given the amount and severity of the different types of diseases, this is a very good number (Vaccines are Effective). Vaccinations stands as a major public health issue today because of the rising number of parents who refuse to vaccinate their children. I would like to personally address to two most common reasons parents deny their child a vaccine. With the establishment of programs that strive to educate parents on the myths and truths behind vaccinations, you will be able to receive accurate information which should eradicate these false beliefs. It’s important that the information you are receiving comes from scientific studies and accurate statistics rather than a non-credible source. The FDA ensures that this course will only provide you with correct information in regards to the effectiveness of vaccines. We can guarantee you this program is legitimate because if any new data is acquired, it will be altered accordingly. Throughout the presentation you will be presented with statistics such as, “Most vaccines are 95% effective that means that they will positively prevent the target disease in 95% of the population” (Lombardo 1). While you are entitled to your own opinion and I can’t control how you parent your children, but I can recommend my professional opinion. The FDA intends to give you all the necessary statistics to lead you to protecting your child and the community. As a parent myself, I understand where the concern comes from and how you may believe these vaccinations have not been around long enough to collect proper data pertaining to the long to term affects.
