They both are important when dealing with finance and business, “Did you know that the behavior of your company stocks in the financial markets follow a certain sequence? Or for that matter, you can predict how long it will take for your financial assets to double in market value?”(Richa, 6). Even without knowing, people are always using sequences and series, which is referred as a Quantitative and Financial Analysis. Sequences are also seen in nature, “The Fibonacci numbers are Nature's numbering system. They appear everywhere in Nature, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, the bracts of a pinecone, or the scales of a pineapple (Nikhat Parveen, 1).” http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/emat6680/parveen/fib_nature.htm

Oceanographers use trigonometry all the time; they use it to calculate the height of tides in the ocean. Trigonometry can also be used in finding the distance between celestial bodies. Architects use trigonometry to calculate structural load, roof slopes, ground surfaces, and other aspects, including sun shading and light angles. People may not realize it, but trigonometry is very important and many jobs use it

Many people have different opinions about what they think about math. For instance, I looked up opinions people said about math and most of them were negative. The move towards “Algebra for All” is based on the notion that success in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) competencies in the 21st century, require fluency in algebraic reasoning and problem solving. Although there is a great need for more students to join the STEM fields, few students pursue these fields in higher education. Scholars have proposed that algebraic thinking should be introduced in the early grades to make the transition to learning complex algebra easier (e.g., Blanton & Kaput, 2011; Cai & Knuth, 2011). Indeed, research has shown that it is possible for students in the earlier grades to engage in functional thinking (Warren, Cooper, & Lamb, 2006), and algebraic reasoning (Bjuland,…

It can consolidate the knowledge that students have already studied, train students' creativity, and develop students' intelligence. Moreover, it is very essential to require some homework in the teaching process. Butler (1987) states, “Homework is the time students spend outside the classroom in assigned activities to practice, reinforce or apply newly-acquired skills and knowledge and to learn necessary skills of independent study” (p.17). Most homework assigned by teachers is for practice and preparation purposes because instructional homework may be assigned to help students. Parents often have questions about why homework is assigned, how beneficial it is, and how they may best help their child complete homework.…
