Most students are proud of the achievement of graduating, and would not jeopardize the ability to walk across the stage for an inappropriate cap. Many neighboring schools allow cap decorating and have not had any major issues. Also, describing the caps as trashy is unneeded students have worked hard to make it to the stage and producing a meaningful message on their caps is also hard work that should be encouraged and

If Dinwiddie Middle School would let me change one thing about the dress code i think i would have to chose to change the policy about wearing a hood in school. I would chose to change this because sometimes having a hood on can greatly help students concentrate, sometimes it helps with headaches, and sometime students just get cold in school. I think that DMS should change their policy on wearing a hood in school. I think this because sometimes students think it is just a form of style.…

Tragedies that take place on school grounds send shockwaves through communities. This brings up the argument of whether or not teachers should be allowed to carry a firearm. This topic appeals to me, not because I am a huge advocate for guns, but because safety on school grounds should be of the utmost importance. Ultimately, teachers who elect to carry a firearm on school grounds would have to pass extensive background checks and training. Provisions and policies would have to be set in place to make sure students would have zero access to the firearm and that it be locked away securely.…

Gas, Rent, and Tuition Most college students will agree that tuition prices are the cause for much stress and debt in their lives, so why are colleges and state governments doing nothing about them? With many students opting out of college because of the price, one would think they would realize their mistake and cut the prices. The solution to the problem is that there should be a cap on tuition like there is on rent and gas prices. A cap on tuition would place an amount where tuition cannot be any higher than that stated amount.…

There are many different types of controversial arguments that people do not agree with. There is an argument that I would like to get to the bottom too. The problem is that there are schools that do not allow hats at school because they are so called “gang related.” I do not understand what makes hats supposedly gang related. Wearing a baseball hat or even a school hat is not allowed.…

With growing political correctness, there has been a constant battle between parents and teachers on what books are school appropriate. Books should not be banned because students wouldn’t be able to experience them in full.…

School Uniforms School uniforms have been a controversial subject on whether students should wear them or not. There are many ways students can be conservative for school other than wearing a uniform. Therefore, I don’t think uniforms are necessary. School uniforms should not be mandatory because students should be able to express themselves, you pay more for certain uniforms, and it can affect one’s self-image. Students should be able to express themselves and uniforms take away their originality.…
