I researched both sides of why state colleges should be free to attend and I would want to go to college that I don't have to pay for. For one reason,People who can’t afford it could miss out on a good education or a better life. Many institution don’t have the students best in mind, but rather their tuition. Often times this conflict of interest puts the students at the short end of the stick as long as it’s minor enough. Additionally, as the article “Here’s How Bad the Job Market Is If You Don’t Go to College” describes, the question for many isn’t whether or not they should, but if they could. The problem is amplified by that government is considering stepping out of the game, “[they’re] meeting less and less of the need even as college costs spiral to record highs.” For many impoverished families that are living from paycheck to paycheck, they simply cannot afford to use four long years of their life when they could be bringing money home, even if it’d be more beneficial in the long run.…

Some Students have to leave unexpectedly from school or drop out of College because it’s an family emergency or their sick themselves. Rosie from “Blue Collar Brilliance” had to quit school in the seventh grade because she had to help raise her brothers and sisters. It’s hard when you have money problems, but some parents still pay the tuition because they know in their heart the child really wants to have a degree. For students to understand the investment of an education shows a maturity that they developed by taking out loans. It is required for students to undergo a seminar about loans and how it should be monitored. This helps students understand the real life aspect of adult hood and money management ("Huffington Post" ). If college were to be free, yes students would not have to take out any loans whatsoever but many would not develop the maturity needed for life after college. It is understandable for students to disagree with the argument and refute that college is something that should be free to anyone.…

“If higher education at public schools becomes free, it might appear to devalue a college diploma. It might also lead to students cutting more classes or not trying because they don’t have to “get their money’s worth” when they aren’t paying for anything. The current price of college drives students to complete their schooling as quickly as possible so as to reduce debt. Without that financial drive, we might see more laziness and lackadaisical behavior from our students” (College Raptor). College would just be like high school everyone would go through it to be able to at least get a job.…

School is a necessary system worldwide to invest in a society 's future. The primary argument as to why educational institutions should be free in the U.S. is not to give everyone the equal opportunity to education as stated by Lawrence (a professor of History emeritus at SUNY Albany) although it is one of the reasons, the primary reason is to increase the number of educated workers to hopefully improve our economy. It is stated that an “educated work force has become an essential component of economic growth and competitiveness (Student Aid Alliance). However, college tuition filters out those who are not willing to pay for their education and also funds universities so that they are able to function and upgrade their facilities. College should not be free because it would lead to tax raises, the value of a degree would decline, and the overall quality of the educational environment would decrease.…
