Most smokers probably started smoking with friends or because they saw family members doing it. There are plenty of students who only share a cigarette because everyone else is doing it. But if smoking on campus remains banned, there would be no social smoking. With CTC being an educational institution, this cuts back on distractions and helps keep the focus on education. The student who wanted to skip and smoke might think twice when realizing what a waste of time it would be to skip a class and have to hide out from campus security to smoke. The ban could also rescue some shy student from being peer pressured into trying tobacco, as they would have a good excuse to fall back on if they were too nervous to "just say …show more content…
Just a half hour of inhaling tobacco smoke cuts could cut time off of your life and increase the chance of lung cancer. While people should be allowed to choose whether or not to smoke, it should be relegated to the home and those private places that wish to allow it while providing a clear warning so that those who want to avoid it can do so. Overall, cutting out public smoking could save lives, especially those of children and pets. It would save plants, reduce harmful bacteria, and reduce the number of wild animals who die or are injured from cigarettes every day. There would be less cigarettes at parks and beaches, no smell of smoke when someone is trying to enjoy their vacation, and less distraction during class. Keeping CTC smoke-free is the only way to
