Why Should Schools Use Profanity In Books?

Children learn words good and bad at a very constant yet rapid pace. Parents probably did not know that children know a large number of swear words by the time they are five years old. This is mind blowing to think about because people do not think about children knowing these words. They learn these words from people they look up to like parents, peers, and they can hear them on television. They can also hear profanity just in the general public. Despite all this, parents want to remove books like Fahrenheit 451 from school cirrocumulus being taught to adolescents because it contains profanity. Although Fahrenheit 451 may contain material that individuals could possibly get offended by, like profanity, the book should remain in school's curriculums because children and adolescents will be exposed to this material at some point in their life anyway. Even though parents do not want their children hearing profanity, an article called Why Swearing Around Children is Not As Bad As You Think states that, "children’s minds are resilient to profanity" (Stein). Schools should also discuss profanity in books because it shows one way people can express their emotions without using violence.
