“Obtaining adequate sleep is important for achieving optimal health. Among adolescents, insufficient sleep has been associated with adverse risk behaviors, poor health outcomes, and poor academic performance. In view of these negative outcomes, the high prevalence of insufficient sleep among high school students is of substantial public health concern.” Healthy People 2020. As Researchers have proven, it 's better to get more sleep. Your overall health will improve with more sleep. Which is why I agree to the idea of school starting later than it does now for most students. If schools start later, students will have less sleep deprived, better grades, and more time included for their morning schedules. Imagine getting up at five thirty in the morning after going to bed at eleven o 'clock at night, having to drive to school in the dark, then be expected to sit in a class and learn the lesson the teacher is teaching without falling asleep. With less time students get less hours which means less money coming in for college. Another con is that there is less time for extracurricular activities such as clubs. To meet deadlines the club members would have to stay later to finish the activities. For example, students participating in the Haunted House, already have to stay building until nine during the normal school schedule, but with a later start time the students would have to stay until ten or ten thirty to get the house project done in time. Finally a last con to starting school later is that there would be less time for sports teams to train and with less training the team is not as good as they should be so the team will lose more games which will affect the income to the school from sports in turn, creating less money for the
