Why Should Parents Be Able To Smack Their Children

Parents should not be able to smack their children because punishment interferes with the bond between parent and child, physical punishment gives the message that hitting is an appropriate way to express feelings and most studies show that children are more likely to get seriously injured.
Punishment interferes with the bond between parent and child as it is not a human nature to feel love towards someone who hurts us deeply. Beating a child does not get them to respect you but fear you. The children being smacked only listen because they are afraid to get hit again. This can result in deeply hurting your child because if he has a problem at school, he will be afraid to tell you. How would you feel if your child didn’t tell you anything because he was afraid of you? Most couples get depressed when they lose a child that they were carrying in their stomach for weeks. As parents smack more and more they start to go overboard and start smacking with wooden spoons or any other equipment. This may be because they don’t know what they are doing when they are furious about something their child did. Such as stealing some money from parent’s purse. The child will be deeply hurt and may even get bruises, scratches on their body. This could lead to them needing medical attention which may even danger your child from dying. Emotionally smacking could affect the child to get overall bad academic results, depression and severe anxiety. In addition, 93% of 1500 13-16-year old said they prefer non-physical punishment, however some parents believe smacking is a good form of punishment.
