Immigration is one of many issues that are going on in the United States. Most people from Mexico cross the border to seek a better life. Others to provide opportunities for their families. Some immigrants,however,smuggle drugs through the borders of the United States. That´s why I believe that immigration laws should be strict.
Likewise, Mexico is run by drug cartels. The New York Times states that, a ¨...kilo sells for upwards of 100,000-more than its weight in gold.¨"meaning they earn 100,000 dollars for selling one kilo of marijuana,heroin,and meth. The Mexican Drug War is currently taking place in Mexico and is affecting many people. According to PBS.org, ¨164,345¨ people in Mexico have been killed by drug cartels due to the Mexican drug war. Immigrants don´t take American jobs, but rather jobs that American citizens won´t dare to partake in. According to demographics.pdf, ¨More than 3 million migrant and seasonal farm workers are estimated to be in the United States.¨ Average Americans mostly work in the fast food industries or anything with better working conditions, and stay away from anything that requires difficult labor work. Without immigrants there would be no food in your supermarkets or farmer´s markets since Americans don´t work to pick their own food. My parents are field workers and come back home with aching muscles because of how hard it is to pick up pounds of grapes through the steep slopes all day. My older sister worked in the fields during the summer and almost got killed by the huge barrels that were full of grapes.
