Why Should Corporal Punishment Be Banned In School

Have you ever bitten by cane when you were studying in school? Corporal punishment is the punishment that inflicted on a person’s body for wrongdoing. Corporal punishment has become a serious matter that the society always concerned about. We can always read news about student was being “abused” in school nowadays. Now here is the question, is corporal punishment equals to abuse? Some school has banned corporal punishment but some are still applying it as one of the punishment for wrongdoing students. I believe that “should corporal punishment be banned” was not an unfamiliar topic for everyone. But how many of us ever think and consider it deeply? English idiom says: “to err is human”, everyone makes mistakes. Even an adult makes mistakes, so why do we assume the students to make zero mistakes? Everyone is born with second chance. Put yourself in others shoes, how will you feel when you are being corporal punishment? Some teachers even ask the student to get up to the stage and cane the student in front of everyone. How will the student feel? If it was you, will you feel embarrassed? There is always another way to educate the students to learn from their mistakes instead of corporal punishment. We can talk to the student, tell them what they did wrong, advice and warn them. Or else, we can also give them other punishment rather than corporal. For example, we can punish them with additional spelling test, additional homework, and so on. In this way, they can learn extra vocabulary and knowledge while accepting their punishment.
