For example, "We just don't have the capacity here," he said. "These children have been forced to carry weapons, forced to kill innocents. What does that do to a child? What does that to do his family? To his community?”(Elbaglr). These kids were forced to kill people and carry weapons and they wouldn’t have ever been exposed to these kinds of things if it wasn’t for the people that brought them into this. This shows that kids were forced to do things that they would never have done as a child and that they probably wouldn’t have wanted to ever do. This piece of evidence shows that child soldiers should be granted amnesty because they never wanted to hurt anyone or carry these weapons but they were forced and it wasn’t they’re choice so they should be forgiven for the things they had to do. For instance, “They may fight on the front lines, participate in suicide missions, and act as spies, messengers, or lookouts. Girls may be forced into sexual slavery. Many are abducted or recruited by force, while others join out of desperation, believing that armed groups offer their best chance for survival”(Human right watch). One example of a child soldier who had a choice is Omar Khadr, “Khadr, only 15 at the time of his apprehension but 24 now, has pleaded guilty in a military commission to five charges, including murder in violation of the laws of war for the killing of US Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer” (Prasow). Khadr wanted to become a child soldier and wanted to follow his dad in his footsteps, so this was his choice and he pleaded guilty of everything he did. Khadr is not an isolated example; there are other child soldiers out there who also chose to fight. And yet, the majority of child soldiers are forced into fighting. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that between January and August 2015, 1,100 children under the age of sixteen have been recruited by the Islamic State” (Hanoush). So there is a lot of kids that get recruited into fighting by force or
