Why Should Backpacks Be Allowed In Schools

Backpacks have been a tradition in schools for a very long time. Now backpacks are being banned from schools. Not only are backpacks a longstanding tradition but there are necessary to students. Students are more productive when they get to carry backpacks for many reasons. Without backpacks many students are becoming more stressed. I believe that students should be allowed to carry backpacks around school. One reason that not carrying backpacks in school is a problem is that it causes stress when students have to go to their locker after every class. A student can either choose to carry their very heavy textbooks all day long or rush to their locker after every single class. Having to carry your textbooks all day would not be so bad if you had a bag to put them in, but having to carry four large cumbersome textbooks in your arms to every class is ridiculous. Often times students lockers are on the opposite side of the school as there classes and having to rush over to their locker every passing time is nearly impossible. If students had the opportunity to carry backpacks many more students would be much less stressed than they are now. Another reason that backpacks should be allowed is that students can not carry all of the supplies necessary for their classes without a backpack. Imagine trying to carry your …show more content…
These people say that backpacks pose a threat to students safety. Backpacks are being banned across the nation because people believe that students will use them to smuggle weapons into school. I disagree because if an individual wanted to bring a weapon into school they could easily do it without a backpack. For example, many athletes are forced to bring large bags to school to hold their practice items in and one could easily smuggle a weapon in one of those. I do not support it and I am not against it. If I were to walk into class and see that we are standing at gun point because someone became angry at another student or professor, I would be absolutely terrified and essentially traumatized. Mostly because of all the news stories of people going crazy shooting at schools. Given this fact the open carry on college campus could either make the atmosphere feel insecure and unstable. Or if there was a threat and someone started shooting at people, there would be more weapons pointed at the attacker, so essentially one could feel safer.…

Campus Carry Facts Campus carry, also known as S.B.11, may seem like a peculiar thing to need while on campus because colleges are supposed to be safe environments for students to receive knowledge for their future careers, but may be necessary. The new S.B.11 allows licensed gun owners to bring their weapons on campus and have the guns with them. Although being armed is allowed in certain areas they are not allowed everywhere on campus according to the campus carry policies. It’s not safer, the regulations make it almost impossible to make the weapons safer, and untrained students often hurt more than they help. Many people believe an armed America is a safer America. This is not true; however, since concealed weapons have been more readily available shootings and gun related crimes have increased. This applies to college campuses as well.…

The argument toward allowing guns on campus could be that allowing more guns on campus could create a possible mass-shootings because people have more access towards guns and bringing them on campus, but however because of this there could be students who have no want to cause a mass shooting instead they want to protect themselves, and other classmates from a possibly dangerous individual. When a shooter enter campus a “good people find themselves in what he calls “ the dark place”,confronted by the imminent terror of a gun-wielding homicidal maniac, the picture becomes clear”,a piece of paper,a sign that says gun free zone or a federal gun law won 't protect us from being murder instead the best protection is a “prepared and brave defender with the proper lifesaving tool-a gum”(Wheeler 619-620).A way to prevent the mass-shootings from increasing because of they allow guns on campus would be to install programs that show who is carrying a gun,if they legally purchased it,do they have a history of violence?,should they carry a gun because of their criminal record even if it may not be a violent and if not then they will not be allowed to carry one legally on campus. This protocol would be used to make sure that we don 't have the wrong people carry guns because those people may be the ones to attack the school,so instead we allow a majority of the guns to carried by the good students as well as the professors. Even with these protocols, we cannot completely end…

Going to college is such an overwhelming time for any student, traditional or non-traditional. You should have a sense of security when you go to school. However, in today’s age, this is not a guarantee due to the unpredictable nature of some individuals. With that being said, sitting next to someone possibly carrying a concealed weapon is not a comforting thought either. While a handgun could end an active shooting situation, the conceal carry permit should be prohibited on college campuses and universities because students lack sufficient training on how to handle and shoot a gun and do not always have a sound mindset making it unsafe for all.…

Students should be required to wear uniforms so that they can focus more on learning than on fashion, or on the hard decision of what to wear in the morning. Students wearing uniform cuts down bullying and improves discipline, helps promote focus, and save parents money throughout the school year. The main reason for uniforms is that they promote discipline, which in turn helps improve academic performance (Bennett). People who oppose school uniform have stated uniform requirement violates, or disregards, the right to freedom of expression, ("Fashion do or don 't?"). I believe students wearing uniforms makes them all feel the same, and look nice and…

From finals to graduate school applications, college can be a stressful place for students. College is the place where teenagers and young adults are supposed to find out who they are, where they belong, and what they want to become in life. The emotions involved with making these tough decisions should not accompanied with the fear of guns being allowed on campus. A once safe haven for students to learn and grow may become the next crime scene for a mass school shooting. Colleges are already stressful and tense and allowing guns on campus will make them even more stressful.…

Today students often care more about fashion than getting an education. For many years, people have been arguing about the idea of making school uniforms mandatory. Some schools already require their students to wear uniforms, but others are still deciding whether to make it mandatory or not. Schools that have already implemented this policy have seen the benefits of it. School uniforms should be required because it saves time and lot of money for the parents, reduces peer pressure and bullying, and helps prevent the use of inappropriate clothing in a formal institute.…

School Uniforms School uniforms have been a controversial subject on whether students should wear them or not. There are many ways students can be conservative for school other than wearing a uniform. Therefore, I don’t think uniforms are necessary. School uniforms should not be mandatory because students should be able to express themselves, you pay more for certain uniforms, and it can affect one’s self-image. Students should be able to express themselves and uniforms take away their originality.…
