Do you think it is right to abuse, burn, cripple, and poison innocent animals just for cosmetics and medicines? No! Each year an overwhelming amount of animals are killed and severely injured in animal testing labs. Cosmetic and medical animal testing should be banned for the following reasons: there is an enormous cost for animal testing in which could contribute to other things, tests that are successful on animals prove unsuccessful, and the effect on animals is huge as it causes animals to be killed and severely injured in experimental labs.
Firstly, there is a massive cost for animal testing, which is $16 billion dollars yearly. (Terrance, Louis, 2018). Some tests take months and sometimes years to conduct and analyze, with a cost of hundreds, thousands and even millions of dollars per substance examined (“Costs of Animal and Non-Animal Testing”, 2018). To go with this, 2-4 million dollars are spent per two animal species in a lifetime cancer study (“Costs of Animal and Non-Animal Testing”, 2018). Also $1.9 million dollars are spent on heart attack experiments on dogs. (Terrance, Louis, 2018) …show more content…
Many tests on animals laer go on to fail human clinical trials(“Nine out of ten statistics are taken out of context, 2013). A whopping 92% of drugs tested on animals that are effective and safe, fail human tests because they are too dangerous or just don’t work (“11 Facts About Animal Testing”, 2018). Also 90% of drugs fail the tests on animals(“11 Facts About Animal Testing”, 2018). FDA’s research shows that 9/10 drugs that were found successful during animal tests, failed during human tests.
