Why Schools Should Be Allowed To Wear Hoods

Decent Essays
If my school considered making a change to the dress I know I would want to change. I would change many things. The reason I would want to change many things is because we don’t have enough freedom to what we want to wear. Like we are not allowed to wear hoods, hats, flip flops, and tank tops. I envision every school should consider making revolution to the school dress code .

I think the schools should change it to where we should be able to wear hoods. Because it might be frigid in the classroom. Or sometimes I mean multiple times it is frigid in the hallways. Or perhaps it is frigid every where that day. But sometimes people are allowed to wear their hoods if they provide a note .

Hoods also provide cushion if we lay our head down.

Ever since we started school we’ve had to deal with dress code. However, schools have different rules such as whether you have to wear uniforms or how short your skirts can be. My elementary school required us to wear uniforms and as the years went on the dress code got progressively stricter. When I moved on to high school it wasn’t much better. They would constantly send people to the office to get a change of clothes, but by doing this they also removed students from their classes, making them fall behind.…

The First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees that all individuals have the right to express themselves freely. When you add in a dress code that says you can only have this kind of shirt or this kind of haircut, the schools end up contradicting their teachings. In 1970 a boy named Richards V. Thurston was suspended from his school because his hair did not match the “appropriate length” for his school. His family sued the principal about his ridiculous charge. In the courtroom, the principal admitted that the student handbook didn’t cover the hair length for…

The dress code should be less strict in that we dress to show our personalities and express ourselves. It should also be less derogatory towards female students, because “their bodies will distract the boys,” is a sexist statement claiming that boys will be boys and that girls just need to deal and accept it. Most girls breaking the dress code do not do it for attention, but when they spend money on clothes that have nothing wrong with them they want to wear them. In fact, it is hard to find clothes manufactured to actually fit the “dress code” due to designers conforming to society's new…

The students at this school have come to a consensus in regards to the necessary change in the dress code that it needs to be implemented in order to appease the growing concerns. Although we are very much aware of the guidelines set forth by this institution we, however, can not disregard the wants of such a high percentage of the student body. These factors in conjunction with the approval of a student committee by our principal have propelled us to take action and bring about reform to this issue. As students, we must abide by the rules imposed by the school which is why compromise may be necessary.…

Hello today I will be talking about dress code. I believe we deserve the right to dress however we want. The thing that sucks the most is that girls are the ones that get mostly dress coded than boys. The only things boys can get dress coded for is if they wear a California shirt or a plain blue or red while girls get dress coded for off the shoulder tops or anything too short. The thing is there are many things girls can get in trouble for wearing.…
