It’s no secret that throughout the school year, students and teachers wake up early in the morning just to get ready and go to school- but what if this is unhealthy and actually affects your ability to focus in school? School requires students and teachers to wake up early and arrive on time. This can be stressful and pose health issues, typically related to insufficient sleep. School should start later, because these issues can be resolved with an extended amount of time to sleep and extra time to themselves for students and teachers to complete schoolwork and enable them to discover possible interests.

School at a later time can lessen the stress they get from school. In the extra time in the morning, teachers have extra time to complete their schoolwork. In addition, they can use the time to mark assignments. Part of what causes stress for teachers are marking assignments. After a test, a teacher is expected to swiftly mark an average class of 30’s tests and assignments, which can cause stress. Teachers can also use the time in the morning to plan lessons for the future. This is important, because in order for students to completely understand a lesson, a teacher must plan an efficient lesson. This can also cause stress for teachers, as they must plan it for every class they have and “present” it in front of the entire class. Therefore, teachers are also affected by the early starting time for school. However, work is not all teachers and students can do in the extra …show more content…
Students will have more time to comprehend the lesson and complete in-class work. It is true students have more time to complete in-class work and learn. However, school would be more beneficial if it started later. Teachers and students would be less stressed, and they can complete more work at home. Moreover, 80% of teachers are already severely stressed. If there were more hours of school, teachers would have to plan more. Students may also be expected to understand the lessons more, meaning teachers would assign even more assignments. This would stress students more, and could make both students and teachers drift away from their social life. This supports my position, because more school would stress even more teachers and students than it does already. If school started later, there would be more time to relieve the stress, or complete at-home schoolwork or homework. Although having more hours of school would allow students to complete more in-class work, it would be more beneficial to have school start later. Having more hours of school does allow students to complete their work in class. However, students and teachers would have more time to themselves if school started later. Students and teacher may have a longer amount of time in class if school did not start later, however students are typically assigned homework at the end of class. As a result, most high school students do not experience a state of being fully awake and at peak awareness until about 8:30AM. It follows that beginning classes prior 8:30 AM compromises maximum productivity as it cannot be convincingly argued that school should begin before students are fully awake and aware.…
