Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Obesity in children has become a growing epidemic for the past 5 years.The media has helped further assist this problem in its development , the advertisement of fast food restaurants such as burger king , McDonald’s, checkers, etc… They have allowed these toxic companies to market their fattening products through television and the World Wide Web. These commercials prey on the minds of children, due to them being susceptible. They continuously show them daily which causes children to eat, and eat, and eat. Their bodies are unable to contain such large quantities of food then it stores it as fat, the fat begins to build up, weight …show more content…
Cafeteria directors respond with this frivolous answer “brand name fast foods are a necessity to keeping their programs running. First lady Michelle Obama is enthusiastically trying to encourage healthy eating in schools as well as at home. Her campaign “Let’s Move” endorses activeness in children around the world. However, 17% of children reported are obese; it looked to drop significantly but increased rapidly yet again. In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. Lately some teens have had gastric-bypass surgeries, gastric by-pass, in which is a surgical procedure, which the fat from the stomach is reduced in size, therefore making it easier to get full quicker, prevent over eating and excessive weight …show more content…

There has been a study conducted in which several children were seated in front of a television and given snacks broadcasts of nonstop fast food commercials were constantly played data was concluded that children snacked repeatedly opposed to the kids that partook in an experiment in which fast food commercials were not shown.
