Why Rainsford Is Not A Hero

Rainsford is not a hero because he gained hatred towards Zaroff as the game went on and he kills innocents without guilt. In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game Rainsford keeps a grudge towards Zaroff even after the game ended. Even though Rainsford won the game “[he] did not smile ‘I am still a beast at bay’ he said in a low hoarse voice ‘Get ready General Zaroff.’” Rainsford still possessed hatred towards Zaroff and the only way he was going to let out the anger was by killing Zaroff. Rainsford gained his anger as the game moved on. Near the end of the game, Rainsford had set up traps along his route. Entering one of Rainsford’s traps “Zaroff was still on his feet.
