Miller made many arguments as to why psychology should be given away, and not kept to those with Ph.D.’s. He said that there are not enough psychologists to meet all the needs for psychological services, everyone uses psychology, so we should teach them how to use it better, and that with everyone using psychology the right way, it will create the greatest impact on society. Miller was completely right. All the reasons he listed as to why psychology should be given away is why this second steps as psychology’s role is so very important. If psychologists only conducted experiments to share the results amongst themselves in secret journal, changes in the world that psychologists work to make happen won’t ever happen. Psychologists are qualified professionals that contribute a lot to society. By putting the psychological information in the hands of the people, it allows for important changes to be made in society. People can learn about psychological experiments through the media like Zimbardo suggested in his 2004 address to the American Psychological Association. Allowing information about psychology to be spread through the media provided the most direct impact on their lives. Getting the information to the public is only half the battle, making sure that it is accurate and depicts the whole truth is another challenge. If psychologists can do this, there will be interest in the information provided by psychology. People will wonder more about why crowd behavior causes people to be hesitant to react in emergency situations and reflect on instances in their life where this knowledge can be applied to stop instances like this from
