A Moments to Myself Have you ever think about why popular culture affect us? Popular culture is what we consume in our lives and the decision in what we make. American popular culture have a positive influence on society. We are influenced by our popular culture because of the way we socialize with the social media, television, music, and magazines. Popular culture have shaped us in many ways, such as, the way we dress, do things, and connect ourselves with all of these social medias. Pop culture or popular culture have an aspect on our society by engaging us with the things that advertisers think would be great and will be useful for us. Fashion is the most important thing to me. As a fashion person, I like to dress however I like. My outfits are based on my moods and the way I feel about the morning or day. I believes that fashion do play a big role in our society. Whenever I go shopping, I like to buy the products that are based on my types or something that catches my attention. For example, I will go to the mall and only go into approximately five to six stores because those are the stores that I’m interested in. I often go shopping to get away from my family. It’s a stress reliever for me. According to Norton, she said, “The housewife who shops for pleasure takes time away from her husband, her family, and her house and claims it for herself” (Norton). According to this quote, majority of the women likes to get a mini away from their family because it gives her the pleasure to be happy and some personal time to herself. This is why majority of the women including myself likes to go shopping because it’s like a cure to a stress. Fashion have influenced me and many people out in the world. It reflects on how we dress and shape ourselves. I love being fashionable. I like to dress little kids up because they are still at the stage where they don’t know how to be picky about their style. This is the biggest challenge for me. The reason why I say that it is a challenge because it’s hard for me to not get distracted by social media. Social media plays a big role in the American society including myself too. I use social media to communicate with people, research about things that I’m unsure or wants to know, and most of all surfing through the websites. For example, I would use Facebook to catch up with people that I haven’t talk to for a long time or just looking at pictures that people post up. Majority of the time, I will only contact people through Facebook because I don’t like giving out my personal cell out there to random people or people that I barely knew. According to Dumenco, he said, “Facebook is one of the digital world’s great shape-shifters- it’s endlessly changed its user interface, its business strategy and notoriously its privacy policies over the years- but one thing has remained constant: We all love to complain about it” (Dumenco). The meaning of this is that Facebook is the most popular social media that changed our society and jobs over the years, yet we still complain about how Facebook is. I do believe that social media is not a difficult task to do, but it is difficult to use less of it. As for me, I do get distracted by social media when I do my homework or other things, such as, cleaning the house, cooking, laundry, and sleeping. I interact with social
