Why playing sports in high school is beneficial to students

Most high schools offer students the chance to participate in an athletic sport. Regardless of your school's size there is usually a very good chance that a student can play in a sport. Playing sports in high school has more pros than it does cons. Yes, it can distract from grades, cause injury, and be a big time suck. It can help reduce stress, teach teamwork, give someone a healthy drive to compete and teach leadership skills.
Being on an athletic team is one of the best things that I’ve ever done. I’ve created the best memories and relationships I’ll ever have, and I continue to do so. If something funny happened in practice

"As you practice, however, you will get better at it and that strengthens your confidence. You'll eventually realize that you can do anything that you set your mind to. " (theodysseyonline.com/why- playing-sports-is-important) Learning to lose and be okay with losing is an extremely important lesson to learn. Being able to lose and realize it wasn't just your fault and being able to lose as a team is an even more important lesson; but winning as a team is just as important. Being able to win, and not flaunt it in everyone's face, being able to win and lose with dignity is something that sports teaches students. In life, outside of sports, winning and losing is a constant. Being able to take the losses and learn from them, then take the wins and humbly accept them is something that not a lot of adults, let alone teenagers can do. That skill will take someone far in life. They will be able to not get a job, and not let that define them. They will also be able to get a promotion, and not flaunt that win in their co-workers

These trophies are now sitting in a dusty box somewhere in his parent's basement. This leads him to question whether or not young athletes should receive trophies for just showing up. Corey Turner is not alone, people across the nation have debated this issue for as long as youth sports have been in existence. I believe that kids should not get trophies for participating because kids should learn life lessons from both wins and losses and participation trophies do more harm than good.…

In your opinion, do you think that you should be required to play a sport in order to graduate high school? Personally, I don't think you should have to. If you are making someone play by force, that individual is not going to give the coach or the team 100% out on the field or on the court. What if a person is mentally or physically disabled? The list could go on and on about what is wrong with high school sports in this generation. It starts when they’re young, parent coaches who only qualify because they played the specific sport when they were younger. That is brought into high school, with their child playing the same sport they “coach”, not getting to experience anything other than what their parent’s knowledge and what they could tell them. I’m not saying all high school athletes who are coached by their parents aren’t going to get any better, but I am saying that if you are going to hire a coach for a program, make sure they are more qualified than just being a parent in the district or having a little playing experience. High school is the preparation stage for college, both academically and athletically.…

Middle Ages Essay Jazlyn Barnes Every person has standard rules they have to obey based on what society tells them such as laws, but what makes us different is we each have our own code of honor to live by as well. This code of honor is our morals and values set in place to define how we make decisions. As Alice Waters once said, “ The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way”. A few of the values I try to embody are being able to work as a team, being loyal to those I love, and living in a Godly way to make sure I am not causing others to stumble in their faith based off my actions. One thing that is important to have being apart of a sports team is being supportive and successful together.…

My moral framework is incredibly influenced by several factors such as my upbringing, culture, sports, and family. My parents experienced an upward social mobility, hence they have always encouraged us to be humble and empathetic with those who are considered the most vulnerable within society. Honduran culture is very conservative and male driven; females are expected to be submissive to males in the stereotypical and ancient characteristic that females belong in the house and males in the workplace. Therefore, at a young age I was imposed with certain responsibilities, such as training myself to take care of my family in case something ever happened to my mom. Hence, one of the reasons why I think about others before myself.…
