Why Plagiarism Is Bad

Plagiarism may seem like a small unimportant The dictionary definition of plagiarism is “the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own” Plagiarism is hurtful to both the person plagiarizing and the creator of the content. It hurts the creator because they aren’t receiving proper credit for their hard work and creativity. It’s hurtful to the person plagiarizing because they aren’t fully solidifying the matter they’ve been learning into the brain and they may face serious consequences. It’s especially problematic in college because you have to pay for classes and the consequences are usually much more severe than in middle or high school. According to the website most colleges ask you to list misconduct on your application and it may be on your high school transcript. Having plagiarism on your record may make it harder to get accepted into a good college, let alone a college at all. It may not seem very extreme at the moment, but get caught and the consequences aren’t worth it. Copyright infringement is also a form of plagiarism.
