If life had a purpose, then why do people still question themselves? The meaning or purpose of life is constantly being questioned by individuals every single day and for some, they never find the answer to it. This question is such an important question according to several of my classmates, yet when I asked them why they didn 't have an answer to it. I then continued to ask people around the school, in my church, in my youth group and anywhere else that I had the chance and was astonished to find out that not even one person could give me an answer to it. They all believed it was an important question and they had all wondered about it, but no one had an answer to it and that is why this this question matters. This is where philosophy plays

Nietzsche and Epicureans both believed life had no purpose. The Epicureans lived in Greece around 307 BCE (newworldencyclopedia.org). They believed “everything is random; no purpose, no afterlife, no need for a God” (Class notes). They have a strong idea that can always be proved. Life is random and sometimes we are thrown good things, but other times, they will be bad things. If everything is random then why do people believe they have to find a meaning or purpose? It could be because of our needs as human beings. Maybe human beings believe they need a purpose or meaning in order to be successful in life, but many don 't have this and are successful in their own way. Another thing that humans tend to believe is that they have to have social obligations or duties, and that this contributes to the meaning or purpose in life, but the Epicureans believed they had “no obligations to social duties”(Class notes). The Epicureans were led by Epicurus who “saw religion as a source of fear”(religion facts.com). This connects to the main question which usually connects to humans needing religion due to fear of the unknown most specifically after death, but why should people fear the unknown? Bad news is always quick to come, so why worry for something that we have absolutely no proof is bad? Maybe that is why humans don 't feel the need for religion now and why more and more people aren 't religious; because there is no purpose there is no need for
