Why People Should Wear Seatbelts

Many people think that seatbelts are not cool to wear when driving. Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among those aged 1-54 in the U.S. More than 2.2 million adult drivers and passengers were treated in emergency departments as the result of being injured in vehicle crashes in 2012. In order to prevent injuries, people should always wear seatbelts. (ehs.okstate.edu) Although some people think seatbelts aren’t safe a million people have died in the last few years. More than 10 billion people all over the world have had a severe injurie in a car crash. People all around the world should wear seatbelts; injuries can be prevented from this. Some people may say, “Wearing seatbelts during a car crash isn’t safe because you can’t get out.” The safety of wearing a seatbelt is going to save a person from getting hurt and there is always a way to you get you out of a vehicle when in a car crash. Every year people get involved in vehicle accidents. This is the reason why many countries impose the safety belt law which encourages people to use their seatbelts at all times. However, seatbelts can prevent people from getting whiplash which means the muscles on the neck is stretched beyond the normal tensions leading to the person experiencing excruciating pain. These ways of not wearing a seatbelt can be bad wearing a seatbelt is the best thing to do while driving a vehicle. Wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of getting injured during an accident as much as 50%. Moreover, 60% of accidents involve major injuries. (asiaforest.org) When driving in the rain, snow, darkness, and other driving conditions it can create dangerous situations.
