Why People Should Not Steal

Decent Essays
I personally don’t steal because I know it’s not good to steal. Plus 90% of people who steal get caught in there act. Just like in the story thank you ma’am where roger gets caught trying to steal Ms. Jones purse. Would you want to be like one of the people that were caught? I know I wouldn’t want to be one of them. I think a person should work hard for what they want because after you will feel a sense of completion. People should not steal to get what they want because. When you steal something that you want you might feel guilty later on. Just like Mrs. Jones said that roger would if he had gotten away with her purse that day. Then she said that if he tried to get what he wanted the honest way he would get rewarded with what he wanted. Like when he learned …show more content…
Jones had taught him she gave him the money to buy the blue suede shoes he had wanted. A casual thief would most likely say that the person that he/she is stealing from can afford it or doesn’t need it but still it doesn’t make it right because it is not yours to take. The stuff does not belong to you. You didn’t go to work and work hard to be able to purchase the item. You just walked in and said oh look at this beautiful plasma screen television I guess they don’t need it so I will just take it. Face it if you have ever stolen no matter how little or big. I wish people then and now possessed more dignity than to stoop so low as to steal from others. What is so terrible about asking for permission from the person who first obtains the certain item? Then if the answer is negative, people should be willing to accept it. The idea about cognitive dissonance also infuriates me. People ought to be willing to face the consequences of their wrongdoing.…

Improving the Retail Alarm System According to the National Shoplifting Prevention Association (NASP), retail stores across America roughly lose over 30 Billion dollars due to shoplifting. Working for a retail store for almost 3 years now, I have come to witness many different shoplifting experiences. An experience that comes to mind was when two tall men walked out the store having both arms filled with purses. And all we could do is watch them walk out the store with all those merchandise. As a retail associate we are not allowed to physically touch customers and we cannot follow them outside the store due to safety reasons, however, lost prevention (LP) can do those things.…

I was taught that stealing, regardless of the price or size or etc. is still stealing. The severity of stealing is best illustrated in the following quote, “There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal a life.…

The notion of the rule-breaking is a double-edged sword, especially in a society that completely disregards the most basic code of ethics. There are essentially two categories of rules one may be faced with, those that are set by the governing power, and those that are the unspoken standards of human behavior. In the German era of Nazi reign, individuals are faced with the dilemma of either choosing to openly defy the laws of the land by supporting the Jews, receiving various degrees of punishment, or quietly succumbing to their societies inhumane ways and laws. This forced characters in The Book Thief, including Hans, Liesel, and Rudy, to re-examine their values and ultimately decide to resist these unjust laws for the sake of the Jews. Through…

Only Act and Rule Utilitarianism apply to this “stealing to survive” scenario. Act utilitarianism states that we should judge each individual scenario and decide which action to take according to the scenario. Rule utilitarianism states that we should follow general set rules of conduct which have, in the past, produced good results. An example showing the differences between the two is if someone left their wallet on the train. If you saw the wallet had money in it, would you hand it into the police?…

As I searched journals and websites for material on the research involving auto thefts, I found very few articles. In fact, according to one author, motor vehicle thefts are the number one under-researched part one crime (Jeffrey Walsh, 2007). In this same article studies indicate auto thefts are linked to community structure, instability and surrounding crime (Jeffrey Walsh, 2007). The author theorizes the reason for the lack of research is the crime itself creates little effect on most victims. That said, stability of a neighborhood has an affect on auto theft incidents.…
