Why People Should Not Be Told Analysis

Decent Essays
History is something that anyone can make or tell to future generations. Most people like hearing about things that happen in the past. Sometimes people do not keep the story true to what actually happened. I believe that it is wrong to change the story. I believe that the people worked hard for their accomplishments, and worked to hard for their part in history not to be told. Everyone has the right to have their story told if they work hard for it they deserve it. If I worked hard for something and someone took it away from me I would be completely furious. It is also very inconsiderate to not tell the truth about important events because people are risking their lives for that cause and they won’t be remembered for it.

Why is it important to document hidden histories? Before viewing Slavery by Another Name (2012), I was not fully aware of the atrocities committed against African Americans after slavery had been abolished. I knew that newly freed slaves had a hard time adjusting to freedom, but I never fathomed the oppression and torment they were subjected to as free Americans. My history classes throughout my education never included information regarding involuntary servitude and laws that were created to deliberately re-enslave African Americans and prevent them from having mobility.…

History is a subject based on story telling. Sometimes, it is based off letters and written documents. History is not written down for others to learn in a nonbiased opinion in the present moment. Historians must go through these documents later and decide what is biased, and what is not. They must read about an event from multiple perspectives and try and pick out what happened and what is an opinion.…

History acts as a precedent for the society that helps people determine their moral code by learning from the lessons their ancestors taught them by virtue of their actions. Therefore, history is an important aspect of comprehending the right and wrong, and it's almost elementary for us to be able to learn from history and not repeat the mistakes made by those preceding us. However, the human rationale is erroneous at times, therefore, we never learn, and more often than not, history repeats itself on all the wrong fronts. The recent Charlottesville tragedy in the United States is the quintessential case to be studied in this regard.…

    Summary Of Truth By Livy

In the preface, Livy said that he has no interest in finding the truth or feeding the readers with lies (“I have no intention of establishing either their truth or their falsehood”), but rather he would like the readers to focus on the important matter: “the life and morals of the community.” Furthermore, Livy didn’t care about the opinions or criticism, and it didn’t matter if his personal fame remained in the dark, the only thing important to is for him , to his best abilities, write about the beginnings of sacred and divine city known as Rome. Also, Livy remarked that truth can be changed and that the truth is written by the winners. When the history is written, the country is trying to avoid the truth that reflects poorly on the…

The similarities between Athenian and American Democracy Once a writer said, “History is not the past, but a map of the past drawn from a particular point of view to be useful to the modern traveler”(Glassie). History is a source of information that people can look up to for the modern time. History can also help to solve problems which would not be possible without it. Moreover, if people look into history there were society which created law and values that lead to the modern society. Frank, Thanks for writing on my post with many questions, which have the same soul about people who lived in different time and space felt happy or knew that their time period was good or not. In my opinion, we cannot decrease the historical event’s historiography at an individual level. Some would like, and some would not. The historiography of world history focus on the historians’ interpretations that should be logic and reflect the truth of the time period. For example, let’s just go back to WW II while the Nazis were killing the Jews.…

    Do We Lie About History

History comes from the Greek word Historia and it means to learn or to inquiry. It’s a vague subject because there so much information that is involved and a lot it being left out. My arguments are do we lie about history to supply clean content to explain history to children in Elementary School systems; teach the true history in schools because children need to know; or wait until children are in college to teach history because the content is controversial. James Baldwin said it best with “Know from whence you came. If you know from whence you came there is no limitations to where you are going” quote.…

When looking back at different historical events, it seems to be that these events are told from the viewpoint of one single party. History is a story made from bits of the past, stories that are built on narratives. For example history books, these books are a reconstructed version of the past for the present. The past is what is made up of events, events that have happened before now and history. But in all the past is gone and only exist in our reconstructions of it.…

History shows us what we have done right and what we have done wrong. Allowing us to see what has worked and what has not, helps us make sure the mistakes in history will not repeat itself. Making our country even better than before. For instance, if someone utilizes revisionist history to cover up something they have done wrong and we look back at it for guidance, it could lead us to something extremely awful. Another danger of revisionist history, is that the person could get caught.…
