Why People Should Be Armed

Improved Essays
Do you think that the world would be safer if more people were armed? I think that it would be! Just imagine, if everyone in the world had a gun. Then no one would be easy to kill. Mobsters would not be able to just go around and murder people, or rob them. People would be able to fight back for once. This would allow citizens, for the first time in the world, to fight back against crime and poverty. The world would be so much safer, and people would sleep better at night, don't you want that?

1 reason that normal people should be armed is that it would discourage robbers. I think this because imagine if you were a burglar, and you knew that the people in the house had guns. If it were me, I would definately not rob houses or anything else. www.motherjones.com says “There are roughly 300 million guns in the United States—nearly enough for each citizen to own one. But those guns are concentrated in the hands of a minority of Americans. Nearly a third of adults owns a gun, according to a new study in the journal Injury Prevention. And gun ownership rates vary widely by state: Alaska tops the list with 62 percent of adults saying they own a firearm; Delaware is at the bottom with just 5 percent.” If more people were armed, it would likely lower robbery rates by at least 50% in most states. I think that this is a really big benefit to having people be armed.

I know a lot of people would say that this would cause school shootings like a lot of other unfortunate events. But, imagine if in every classroom, there was a trained gunsman (teachers) and they had a gun on them at all times. I imagine that school shootings would be a lot harder to pull off, and if it did unfortunately happen, the fatalities would definitely be decreased before the shooter was killed or otherwise

Stossel explains how much of an impact on having a gun can be: “If someone gets into your house, which would you rather have, a handgun or a telephone? You can call the police if you want, and they 'll get there, and they 'll take a picture of your dead body. But they can 't get there in time to save your life. The first line of defense is you” (par. 13). The difference between having a gun and relying on the police could be the difference between life or death.…

If everyone has access to fire arms you’re giving people that shouldn’t even be anywhere near firearms a way to potentially hurt more innocent lives. That would also pretty much get rid of gun free zones if everyone had fire arms, I personally wouldn’t want to be on anyone’s bad side if that were the case because now it would become potentially a fatal…

The ability to protect yourself is available at a moment’s notice for those who obtain a concealed carry permit. One of the females holding a concealed carry permit stated that “women need to be able to defend their home and defend themselves if they go out. It’s just a safety issue.” (Procon.org) Gun owners have the responsibility on themselves to ensure they are their own first responders. If you have the training and can accurately hit a target, it isn’t only your right, but your responsibility to carry wherever you can.…

In the United States, there are certain rights that are protected by law but there is also some people that believe that it should not be protected. The second amendment which grants the right to bear arms has been a topic of an ongoing debate of whether or not the government should have more gun control. The two sides have really good point of views. One side maybe want less gun control because owning guns keeps them more secure in case of emergencies, for example: if people are breaking in homes, the residents with guns can fight back in case the home invaders have guns on them. Another example, people may need more guns in case of bigger threats like terrorist attacks and so on.…

Guns give small so called “weaker” humans the ability to better defend themselves against “stronger” people. If guns are taken away from these people there will be nothing but chaos and evil left. Criminals often search for places where guns are not allowed or people who are unarmed, “Criminals feel emboldened when they know their victims will be unarmed; on the other hand, criminals will think more carefully about their actions if they are likely to be shot themselves” (Gun Control-Michael…

Thesis:The second amendment should not be taken away from the american citizens. The argument that guns kill people is stupid because someone has to exert a force on the weapon for it to even fire. he problem is not guns it’s the crazy people that do crazy things whether they have a gun or a knife or any object that can be used as a weapon so if you are gonna ban guns then you might as well ban kitchen knives and pencils. the people that want to ban guns never look at how many innocent lives are saved by guns in the hands of responsible civilians.…

My RIGHT to Bear Arms The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states; “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of the Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Recently, a man and his wife in San Bernardino, California walked into an environmental health services building where a party was taking place with two AR15’s and two pistols, opened fire on the people at the party, killing 14 people and injuring some odd more. In this case, putting harsher gun regulations would not have done anything because they didn’t buy the AR15’s themselves, they asked someone else to buy them but they did buy the pistols.…

Almost all national surveys estimate that there are about 1 to 2 million cases a year that civilians use firearms to defend themselves or others. If properly used, owning a firearm can protect yourself as well as others. (Saletan)…

Should the Police be Armed? In a world full of violence and armed criminals, instinctively it seems right that the ultimate means of law and order in a country - the police force - is armed. The logic appears to work: if the police are armed, criminals - afraid of being shot - are far less likely to commit crimes. Indeed, in countries in which the police aren 't armed, gun crime has doubled over the last decade as has the number of people killed and injured by guns.…

This was not the original purpose for guns, guns were used to protect what people want to protect. If the government decides to ban guns, they…
