For example, refugees in Djibouti living in camps benefit from food aid and free health care and education; they face difficult circumstances and describe themselves as having lost everything, even their identity (SOURCE 5). The misconceptions includes statements such as: people who are poor don't look hard enough for jobs, or they don't have enough education to find one. They also believe that race, gender, and many other factors don't impact the problem of poverty anymore, which is also false. Hunger in almost all nations, including the Unites States of America, is caused by poverty or a host of things that interact with poverty. These causes can be, but are not limited to discrimination, lack of power, corruption of government officials, war, environmental overload, and scarcity of resources. In America’s case, lack of power and corruption of government officials are not a problem anymore, but environmental overload and scarce resources are still problems today (Hauptmann, Cole). As Americans, building houses on farmland for our expanding population and using more water than necessary.…

Poverty is split into three main groups, cumulative, previous period, and concurrent. The main reasons one might fall into one of the groups of poverty are health problems, illiteracy or even lack of income but the foremost contribution to poverty, in my opinion, is government assistance and social welfare.
